This senior level individual contributor role will have the responsibility for helping BD Biosciences be a great performing business and a great place to work in the biotech industry and in San Jose. Develop and implement ideas and programs that result in a high performing work environment and engaged, motivated associates and leaders. Key focus will be to provide expertise for BDB HR act as a business partner (HR generalist) for significant client groups including Research and Development, Quality/Regulatory and Medical (80%) and facilitate/support BD University management and employee training workshops (about 20%).

HR business partner support may include implementing compensation initiatives; employee development programs, employee relations, staffing and recruiting, employee communications, employee assistance programs, diversity programs, management consulting and employee counseling.

In addition to being a key member of the BD Biosciences Cell Analysis HR team in San Jose, will also belong to BD Biosciences HR organization including participating or leading cross BD Bioscience HR initiatives.

2.Demonstrates the ability to balance responsibilities as management partner AND employee advocate and the wisdom to know the difference.
3.Offers counsel and advice to managers and employees on full array of employee relations issues ranging from career development to performance improvement.
4.Counsels Supervisors and Managers regarding compensation and job evaluation issues.
5.Supervises the review of proposed salary actions for conformance to established guidelines, policies and practices; recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve problems.
6. Supervises the preparation of job descriptions using prescribed company methodology.
7.Plan and implement new, innovative HR programs and business practices designed to create a great place to work environment, improve business performance and encourage a diverse work force.
8.Conducts needs analyses to identify training needs and opportunities as needed.
9.Delivers BDU training programs, including coaching skills, interviewing skills and career development. May develop and deliver site specific programs.
10.Applies best practice knowledge of leading training practices and programs to business needs.
11.Facilitates and designs small group problem solving, team building, new leader assimilation sessions.
12.Provides “hands-on” recruiting/staffing support to staffing specialist and client groups to ensure recruitment of top talent.
13.May work with the BDB Web Team to produce practical HR policies and procedures.
14.May travel up to 20% or as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Typically requires a BA/BS in Human Resources Management (graduate degree desirable) related discipline and a minimum of 10 years professional-level HR experience, including at least 5 years in senior HR management in medium to large corporations covering the broad range of HR generalist disciplines with a significant focus on compensation management or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Prior experience working in a bio/high tech environment with highly educated R&D personnel highly desirable.
